About Treasured Pieces

More than handmade.
Made together.

Treasured Pieces is the story of Ronel and Carel Jnr Van Der Merwe — a stepmother and son who turned an unexpected change in life into something creative, meaningful and uniquely theirs.

The Beginning

A change in life became a new way to create.

Before Treasured Pieces, Ronel ran a nail studio from home. When COVID restrictions made close-contact appointments difficult, she adapted the skills she already had into handmade press-on nails.

What began as a practical response quickly became the foundation of something bigger — a business that could grow around creativity, family and time spent together.

The Turning Point

A difficult season became the start of something new.

How It Became Treasured Pieces

Two small ventures. One shared story.

From 2022, Ronel and Carel Jnr began selling at markets, night markets and events. The nail side became known as Nella Press-On Nails, while jewellery and accessories grew through Stukkie van de Merwe Jewellery.

The long hours of preparing, travelling, setting up and selling gave them more than customers — it strengthened their bond. Today those two small ventures live together under one name: Treasured Pieces.
